Having fun with toys

This weekend was St. Barabara's ball for the 2-146 Field Artillery. On the minus side, it meant I had to drive four hours round trip on my weekend off and pay for a dinner I didn't want while watching my fellow Soldiers get drunk and curse the Infantry and Armor branches. On the plus side, I got to play dress-up. Although I didn't wear the hat and the sword to the actual event, I decided to go ahead and try them on, just to make sure they still fit. Michael agreed with me that the saber is pretty cool.

It was too bad that the ball was this weekend, because Frank and Karen came up on Saturday, and they brought the boy some birthday presents. I think Michael enjoyed playing with Grandma and Grandpa even more than riding around on the truck Frank put together for him.

Happy Birthday Mikey!

It's hard to believe that my little Mikey is one year old! His birthday was on Saturday, but we didn't celebrate until tonight because Aaron was at army drill and poor Mikey was sick all weekend. It's the first time he's been sick...of course it had to be on his birthday. To celebrate he ate his favorite foods all day. Refried beans with cheese for lunch and a smoothie from Jamba Juice for snack. Shephards pie, cottage cheese, deviled eggs, and jello for dinner. As for his cake, I made him a triple chocolate one. Yum. He opened a few presents and had a fun time playing with his new toys.

Our first year with Mikey has been more fun and exciting that we could ever have imagined. Happy Birthday, Mikey!
